Russia is operating in Europe using sabotage methods
On the night of June 22, 2025, in the German city of Erfurt, unknown persons set fire to 6 trucks destined for Ukraine. Available surveillance video shows the vehicles engulfed in flames. Among the vehicles are Rheinmetall logistics vehicles, which were used for military supplies as part of support for Ukraine.
Russian sabotage in the EU – the scope is growing
The damage is estimated to be significant, but there are no reports of casualties or injured.
The arson of 6 trucks in Efurt is not an isolated criminal episode, but part of a much wider campaign of sabotage. Arms deliveries are a key element of aid to Ukraine, so logistics are becoming a target. Germany and the EU must respond with a prompt and coordinated security policy. The success of this support and further assistance directly depends on the reliability of such systems.
Who could be behind the attack
These actions fit into a series of arson attacks on logistics facilities in Europe, aimed at Ukrainian support. According to the data, we are talking about sabotage, potentially organized or inspired by Russian special services.
The reports talk about attacks in England, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, where warehouses or transport connected to Ukraine were attacked.
So far, no specific suspects have been identified in Erfurt; the investigation is being conducted by the German police and prosecutor’s office.

Why Erfurt and these trucks were chosen
Rheinmetall is a major German arms manufacturer whose logistics assets are used in military aid to Ukraine. The arson attacks are aimed at disrupting such deliveries.
The element of intimidation: such attacks undermine morale and create difficulties in supporting allies.
The transported equipment is key to the front, and its loss is not just material damage, but also causes strategic harm.
The reaction of the authorities and the situation on the ground
The police in East Berlin have not yet released any details about the suspects, possible motives or the presence of witnesses. Criminal cases are being conducted under articles on serious intentional damage to someone else’s property. The case is classified as a terrorist or sabotage attack – depending on the results of the investigation, it may be reclassified.
Representatives of Rheinmetall have already expressed regret and promised to smooth out the delivery schedule in order to minimize delays.
An arsenal of attacks – from arson to exploding packages with incendiary devices – was used in London, Waldva, Riga, Vilnius. In each case, we are talking about logistics for Ukraine. German and European security services increasingly associate such events with Russian state influence, the purpose of which is to undermine support for Ukraine and create an atmosphere of fear.

Analysis and forecast of the number of acts of sabotage in the EU
- Goal of the attack: to delay military support to Kyiv and demoralize both the visible manufacturer Rheinmetall and the EU military logistics system.
- Effect: even without human casualties, the incident creates logistical chaos – requires additional checks, increased security, revision of routes and insurance conditions.
- EU response: probable response – increased security of cross-border transportation, coordination of EU and German intelligence services, tightening sanctions and legal prosecution of the perpetrators.
Germany has previously faced anti-Ukrainian manifestations within: attacks on reception centers, agitation, cyber attacks. The incident in Erfurt is part of a long-term hybrid campaign against support for Ukraine.
